The idea behind it

Born in the field, not at a desk

The idea for APPEC comes from Günther Prantl: 35 years as a professional firefighter, 30 years in rope rescue, instructor for rescue at height and in confined spaces, and member of working groups for the training material of the Italian National Fire Corps. He wanted to handle equipment inspections without paper and printer.

The result is software that fire brigades, rescue organisations, companies and inspection services use today. It is developed and supported by Prantl IT in Marling, South Tyrol – with personal support instead of a hotline.

What is APPEC?

APPEC is online software with an app for managing equipment and documenting inspections – above all personal protective equipment (PPE) and work equipment. You record each article once, inspect it on your smartphone, tablet or PC, and keep all inspection reports in one place.

Does APPEC replace the inspection by a competent person?

No. APPEC digitises the documentation: the app shows what is due, provides the inspection questions and stores the result. The inspection itself and the decision on further use are made by the responsible person – according to the manufacturer's instructions and the regulations in your country.

Which manufacturers are in the database?

The central database contains models from Petzl, Kong, Camp, Climbing Technology, Edelrid, Beal, Skylotec, Teufelberger and other manufacturers, with properties, service life, standards and inspection questions. It is extended continuously. If a model is missing, you can create it yourself.

How do I tag my equipment?

With NFC chips, QR codes or barcodes. Codes already applied by the manufacturer can be used directly. Articles without a tag can be found via search and filters.

Will I be reminded of due inspections?

Yes, by push notification and e-mail – daily, weekly, monthly or yearly. You can also add the APPEC calendar to Outlook, Google or Apple Calendar via a personal link.

Which devices does APPEC run on?

As a web app in the browser on any PC, Mac and tablet, and as an app for iPhone, iPad and Android. All devices work with the same data. For NFC and RFID on a PC or iPad there are Bluetooth readers that work with any device.

How much does APPEC cost?

The price depends only on the number of articles: from €5 per month for 100 articles to €30 for 5,000 articles, larger quantities on request. Users are unlimited in every package. Billed annually, prices excl. VAT.

How long can I try it for free?

90 days, with up to 100 articles and all features. You don't need a credit card, and the trial ends automatically – there is nothing to cancel.
